1. (be) on a diet : đang ở ăn kiêng, chế độ ăn uống

eating less or more healthy food in order to become slim or feel better
Ví dụ:

“Would you like a piece of cake?” “No thanks, I’m on a diet.”

2. strict (adj): nghiêm ngặt, chặt chẽ
limiting someone’s choices, exactly describing what someone can or cannot do
Ví dụ:

She’s on a very strict diet. She can eat vegetables and fruits only.

3. to lose weight (vp): giảm cân
to reduce the number of kilos that somebody weighs
Ví dụ:

He would have to lose some weight in order to avoid serious heart diseases in the future.

4. to succeed (v): thành công
to achieve something that you want
Ví dụ:

If you combine diet with physical activity, you are likely to succeed in losing weight.

5. habit (n): thói quen
something that you do regularly
Ví dụ:

He’s in the habit of switching on his computer every time he comes back home. He wastes so much time in front of the screen!

6. to achieve a goal (vp): đạt được mục tiêu
to reach an aim, to succeed in doing something that you wanted
Ví dụ:

She wanted to lose 10 kilos, so she took up jogging and went on a diet. She achieved her goal after 3 months.

7. junk food (n): thức ăn vặt
food that is quick to prepare and easy to eat, but very unhealthy, because it contains a lot of fat
Ví dụ:

She doesn’t let her children eat junk food any more, after she realised how much fat it contains.

8. influence (v): ảnh hưởng
to change or affect something
Ví dụ:

You won’t influence her decision, she’s too stubborn.

9. mood (n): tâm trạng
the way you feel
Ví dụ:

I was always in a bad mood in the morning, because I had no energy, so I decided to change my diet and eat more fruits and vegetables.

10. famous (v): nổi tiếng, phổ biến
well known
Ví dụ:

She’s famous for being extremely generous. She gives a lot of money to charity every year.

11. approach (n) sự tiếp cận
a way of dealing with something
Ví dụ:

He’s a famous doctor who has a new, interesting approach to healthy eating. He claims that you don’t have to give up eating the food you love to be healthy.

12. food pyramid (n) tháp thực phẩm
a graphic that suggests how many portions of each type of food you should eat every day
Ví dụ:

According to the food pyramid you should eat more portions of fruits than most people do every day.

13. blood type diet (np) chế độ ăn theo nhóm máu 
a diet that is based on the type of food which is considered good for a particular blood type
Ví dụ:

According to the blood type diet, if your blood type is B, you should avoid eating carbohydrates.

14. food combining diet: chế độ ăn kết hợp
a diet that is based on separating and combining particular types of food
Ví dụ:

According to the food combining diet, you shouldn’t eat carbohydrates with protein-rich food.

15. to count calories (vp): tính toán hàm lượng calo
to calculate the number of calories that your food provides
Ví dụ:

Now it’s easy to count calories, because their number is always given on the label of each product.

16. ‘calorie bomb’ (n): chứa hàm lượng lớn calo
an item of food, meal, snack that contains a huge number of calories and usually a lot of fat
Ví dụ:

Ice cream with cream is very tasty, but it’s a calorie bomb. You should avoid it if you don’t want to put on weight.

17. to give up (vp): từ bỏ
to stop doing something
Ví dụ:

You’ll have to give up drinking alcohol, if you want to be a successful sportsman.

18. agricultural (adjective):    related to farming
19. better safe than sorry (idiom):    it's better to take precautions rather than risks
20. consumer (noun (also verb))    person who buys something
21. debate (noun):    an issue that has strong arguments on both sides
22. expensive (adj):    costs a lot of money
23. handling (noun):    using hands to move or prepare the item
24. labels (noun):    information printed on the outside of a product
25. nutritious (adj)    healthy choice for the body
26. organic (adj)    does not contain chemicals, such as pesticides
27. pesticides (noun)    a chemical that keeps bugs away from crops
28. stay in business (idiom)    continue offering service or supplies to consumers
29. supply (noun)    something that the consumer wants or needs
30. waste of money (idiom):    a poor choice in how to use money
